7. BEACH BLUE FLAG REPRESENTATIVES TRAINING HELD IN BODRUM

The Blue Flag Representative Training and Certification Meeting, attended by the Bodrum District Governor, Bodrum Municipality Vice President, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, POYD, TÜRSAB, Food Rescue Association, was held on 17-18 April 2019 at Kefaluka Resort Hotel.

The Blue Flag Representative Training and Certification Meeting, attended by the Bodrum District Governor, Bodrum Municipality Vice President, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, POYD, TÜRSAB, Food Rescue Association, was held on 17-18 April 2019 at Kefaluka Resort Hotel.

At the end of the 1.5-day training, an examination was held for 125 Blue Flag representatives from 10 coastal provinces. Participants who are going to be successful in the exam results to be announced after 1 month will be given a "Blue Flag Beach Representative Certificate and ID Card" valid for 5 years.

By the year 2018, 459 beaches, 22 marinas, and 10 yachts were awarded the Blue Flag, within the scope of the Blue Flag Program which has been implemented since 1993. With many award-winning beaches, Turkey was ranked third in the World this year in 50 countries. Approximately 11% of the total Blue Flag awards in the World (total beach and marina) are located in our country.

Regarding the Training and Certification meeting, TÜRÇEV Chairperson of the Board Rıza Tevfik Epikmen made the following statement:

‘’ As a national responsible institution, our foundation takes care to ensure that the standards of our internationally awarded Blue Flag beaches and marinas are higher than other countries. Our institution believes that this goal can be achieved better with local support.

At the national level, a training seminar is organized to ensure that the Beach Blue Flag Representatives have up-to-date information, obtain information through experts on key issues that are important in coastal management, benefit from the experiences of local officials who carry out exemplary practices in the region and exchange ideas.’’

The opening of the training sessions was attended by Bodrum District Governor Bekir Yılmaz, Bodrum Municipality Deputy Mayor Ümmühan Yurt, TÜRÇEV President Rıza Tevfik Epikmen, the leading institutions supporting the Blue Flag Program such as the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, the Association of Professional Hotel Managers (POYD), TÜRSAB, Food Rescue Association, Portable Battery Manufacturers and Importers-TAP Association officials.

The award ceremony of the "Blue Flag Hotels and Marinas Collect Waste Batteries" competition, which has been organized for 4 years with the cooperation of TÜRÇEV and TAP Association, was also held at the seminar. In 2018, certificates and plaques were given to 10 Blue Flag hotels and 3 marinas collecting the most waste batteries.
