The Second Round of European Environment Agency-Marine Litter Monitoring Study Is Continuing!
The second tour activities of our European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring Program, at Sarigerme Public Beach were held!
The second tour activities of our European Environment Agency Marine Litter Monitoring Program, at Sarigerme Public Beach were held! İsmail Batıbey, Chairman of Sarıgerme Environmental Education Association-SARÇED, TUI Magic Life Sarıgerme and Ali Yavuz from TUI Blue Seno were also with us in our study that took place on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. TÜRÇEV Muğla Branch Coordinator Gürcan Kaya and Coordinator Assistant Abdullah Tan coordinated the event, which was participated with 10 people that consists of a volunteer group and cleaning staff.
In our detailed collection and characterization study that lasted for 2 hours, we collected 20 kilograms of waste consisting of 377 pieces in total and 88% of it was plastic, so we found 332 pieces of plastic! We made pictures of fish from the waste we found, to show how much damage we have done to these suspects.
All were plotted and recorded on European Environment Agency marine litter maps. Next time, we have a goal to collect those that have sunk into the seabed! We are waiting for the news of those who want to join us in our efforts to protect the environment and leave a clean world to future generations!
